A New Record Made

Last weekend went by in a blur. Amazing turnout at the Async auctions, great discussions, and in the midst of the action, a record-breaking sale by Pak for his last and most powerful Layer of “The Tribe”.

The artist never intended for this Layer to sell. It was his pride and joy, as it allowed the owner to change the background color, apply different filters, and even censor the centerpiece “Sultan”. If you are familiar with Pak, he usually has intent and meaning behind selling a piece. 97 ETH was the highest prime number and in context of the infinite possibilities he envisioned for this piece, makes sense somehow.

Museum of Cryptoart (M○C△) came in and met that incredible price on Saturday, July 25th. They now have 12 out of 29 Layers of “The Tribe”, and is possibly the collector with some of the most influence over the exceptional piece.

“Base” now holds the record of highest single Async Layer sale at 97 ETH. Previously it was held by Coldie’s “Decentralized Eyes” from “First Supper” at 77 ETH.

Jivinci’s “Girl with Ethering” saw some of the most impressive bid prices on Saturday. The five Layers were sold to an avid collector of his for 10 ETH weeks before the auction. The Master held a 5 ETH bid for several days, and then started climbing dramatically in the last few hours of auction. There were at least 4 unique bidders, and it finally settled on 11 ETH by Billy Whistler.

Total sale was 21 ETH, and as expected the artist was over the moon.

If you have the chance, go visit the “Girl with Ethering” in the virtual world here.

“Memorial to Victims of Fiat Money’s Violence” by Carlos Marcial saw the most involved bidding wars. This elegant, and powerful piece drew attention from several collectors as the Trees, the Base, and the Memorial sold for a total of 11.25 ETH to the Museum of Cryptoart. The Master was in a 3 way bidding war, and finally went to an anonymous bidder for 9.2 ETH. Total sale is 20.45 ETH.

The artist is open to sharing his 3D render of the Memorial gun to the owner, so we look forward to seeing it displayed in the marvelous virtual 3D museum in Somnimum Space in the future!

Lastly, our new artist Gary Cartlidge stayed under the radar and did not auction off his piece. Instead he patiently waited with min reserves on his piece “Submissive Decay” for the right collector. Basileus, a frequent and beloved collector on our platform, swooped up several Layers for a total of 3.05 ETH. The rest went to individual collectors, and the Master went to the same anonymous bidder for “Memorial for Victims of Fiat Money’s Violence” for 5 ETH.

Total sale for this piece is 9.25 ETH - very impressive for a first time Async solo artwork!

Stay tuned as we gear up for our next round of auctions - scheduled for mid August. Follow us on Twitter and Discord for the latest updates!
