If you were to combine the warmth of Monet, the picturesque landscapes of Constable, and top it all off with a Minecraft-inspired cherry on top, you would get DefiantSquid’s Landscape Study #1(with visitor).

While freelancing as an animator and designer, DefiantSquid found respite in creating art that had nothing to do with his work. Using the inspiration he found looking at prints of Monet and Constable paintings at his grandparent’s house paired with many well-spent hours creating and observing pixel art, DefiantSquid created a unique style that made him feel like he was creating something for himself, rather than for work.

Landscape Study #1(with visitor) is split in 3 different Layers: background landscapes, frames, and the visitor.

Background landscapes vary between picturesque valleys to a forest of trees.

Whether it's wooden, metal, or gold, the frames add an unexpected pop to the painting.

Finally, Layer owners get to decide how far or close the visitor is in relation to his scene.

“These half-remembered, half-imagined places are inextricably linked in the artist's mind with spectacular weather and a certain time of day,” says DefiantSquid. Based in the United Kingdom, one can only imagine the innumerable amount of pristine landscapes these works are based on. Can you guess where these places are?

Landscape Study #1(with visitor) Master is currently available for 5 ETH with Layers varying in price from 1.5 ETH - 3 ETH.
