*2/26/2020 Update*

We’re back online and are re-enabling bids! We’ve also added two new features: a current top bid will display the wallet owner’s address as well as an #arena channel in discord where you can see real-time bids and sales.

Wow. What a day.

Async Art launched to such an amazingly positive reaction and we are all just blown away. As a team, thank you from the bottom of our hearts :) This makes all the coding sprints, long sleepless nights, and hours of coordination worthwhile.

This morning at our San Francisco event, we launched our platform async.art and unveiled to the world a whole new type of programmable art. Async Art has changeable layers. Async Art is open source to maintain longevity. Async Art broke records in the Cryptoart movement.

: : : : : :

Not only did we release the biggest Cryptoart collaboration piece with more than 54 billion unique state combinations (with multiple pre-launch bids from avidly lurking fans -Thanks Dan and others!), we exceeded expectations and received over 70 ETH worth of bids in JUST 7 HOURS after going live.

But most importantly, we made history today. Along with our 14 artists we forged a new path for artists to creatively express themselves. Art is no longer static and a “finished” piece. It is an ever-changing and ever evolving dialogue between an owner and the artist.

Some key learnings we had today:

Everyone LOVED the physical digital frames. We had five digital art frames hand-crafted from repurposed monitors to showcase the wonderful art. They are meant to be prototypes, but folks were ready to take some home, meaning we will definitely explore making beautiful hardware to supplement the digital art platform.

We also learned venturing into a new frontier comes with growing pains. We encountered our first launch snag in the form of a potential contract vulnerability. (big thank you to @epheph for the find). Our dev team has already fixed it in a brand new contract. We are working with the artists to re-mint their art and should be back online very soon. But for now, we are disabling the bidding functionality and will invite everyone back when it is ready.

Lastly, many artists have reached out wanting to try Async Art and our next course of action will be to onboard more as the platform matures and user functionality is improved.

We had a great launch event and livestream today. Feel free to check our presentation here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/557745477

Onward,
